I watched all my CC clips in sequence again on Friday (bawled my eyes out nearly all the way through it) and I have one really burning question ... who finished the last part of Loveless? Sephiroth didn't have his wing yet (I don't think?) and Genesis was still alive after those men took him in the helicopter. Angeal's and Lazard's wings were both white so to whom did the black feather belong and who finished the poem? Also, I'd like to know which character is the most loveless one? Seph? Gen? Jenova? Hojo? I heard/read somewhere that the entire poem tells the Final Fanatsy 7 story (not just the Crisis Core part) - is that true or even possible?

I would love some enlightenment if there are definite answers or at least to hear some theories if there aren't.

Crisis Core makes me cry and I should hate watching it for that reason alone but instead I love it and the characters in it are the characters I adore most in the whole compilation - the only one I adore who is not in Crisis Core is Kadaj. Speaking of which when Genesis had deteriorated to completely white hair I thought he strongly resembled Kadaj. Maybe it's insignificant but it tickles my "what if " button a bit. Thoughts?

Well I don't think Sephiroth gives a crap about Loveless, and as you have mentioned Angeal's and Lazard's wings were both white so.....based on the fact that Genesis is the only one obsessed about Loveless to the point where his dialogues are mostly limited to quotes from said book and the fact that his wing is black we can only assume that it was he who finished the poem and it was his black feather.Dying does not have to be a must for that type of scene, plus the feather could have fallen from the helicopter Genesis was in. Besides the fourth act of Loveless was said to be lost(or something like that) therefore no one knows for sure exactly how it ended, so that particular end to the poem might be how /Genesis/ decided to interpret Loveless.Heck maybe the entire CC game is based on how Genesis interprets Loveless. As for who is the most loveless, I don't remeber the exactly all the acts so can't help you there. Oh and if you mean what if Gen and Kadaj are related,Kadaj is a remnant of Sephiroth so unless you're saying Genesis is part Sephiroth, I think Genesis is Genesis ,Kadaj is Kadaj..TOTALLY different characters.(if you don't mean that kind of 'what if' then ignore my last sentence)>.<

What if them Remnants are hybrids of Seph and Genesis and some female contributor besides just Jenova? I put nothing past Hojo & Hollander. That's what I was getting at, lol. The black feather wrote the end of Loveless with no visible being guiding it - that's why I wondered who did it.

Genesis was the only one who knew LOVELESS's ending. The black wing belonged to him, and I think was thrown in there as he completed LOVELESS simply for the sake of being dramatic. The ending of CC was so well done that I think they were simply paying attention to detail and giving everything a poignant feel.

There are two versions of LOVELESS throughout the game- the summary of the play spread throughout Genesis' cave, and the actual quote's that he is heard saying throughout the story. Both explain two different stories, Crisis Core's and FF7's respectively. Nearly ever character in the game ties into LOVELESS somehow, be it Aerith, Jenova, Cloud, Hojo, or Genesis. Read over it and you'll find there are some very blatant nods towards the characters and the plot of CC & FF7. It's really interesting.

I'm not sure if there's anywhere online to find the summary in the cave, so if you can't, I'd be happy to provide it for you. I had it written down solely for the purpose of analyzing the crap out of it.

I have 2 YouTube vids bookmarked of all the Loveless text one is direct quotes from Genesis spoken dialogue and one is supposedly Gackt's original poem + what is revealed by Genesis in game. Is the one with extra text the cave version? And does some of that refer to the AerithxCloudxTifa triangle? Or does it refer to more than one set of circumstances within all of FF7 compilation? BTW my sudden curiosity is all Genesis' fault. I just want to clarify that much, lol.





I tried to Google for the cave version but then considered that I wouldn't recognize it if I found it, LOL! So, yes please share your summary with me, Liz.

Another question: Are Genesis, Weiss and Nero "brothers" in the same way that Yazoo, Loz and Kadaj are brothers - merely through shared genetic material rather than actual parentage?

The first video is the version you find throughout the cave. That one seems to refer to the events and characters in Crisis Core- Aerith, Zack, Sephiroth, Angeal, and Genesis. It's hard to differentiate which is the hero, the prisoner, and the wandered because at some point it seems as if they all switch roles and are each of these things.

The quotes themselves seem to refer to FF7... I don't remember seeing anything that made me think of Tifa... It was more CloudxAerithxSephiroth in most cases... The savior of the planet making sacrifice, being favored by that savior, and being despised and seeking vengeance were really what I gathered from the entire thing. I really could break it down because I did take margin notes (Why am i such a lamer? I have NO idea) but that's really entirely up to you.

LOVELESS addresses several moral issues and poses a series of questions. Who is the Goddess? Does she really exist? What is her purpose? What is her gift? Is it better to be strong and powerful? Is it better to do what's morally right? The entire thing is surprisingly deep if you read into it a bit.

In Genesis underground cave, there are a series of signs telling the story of LOVELESS. This represents the story of Crisis Core, and the four main characters- Zack, Genesis, Sephiroth, and Angeal.

LOVELESS, Act I
The infinite mystery
The gift of the Goddess is what the three men seek
But their fates are scattered by war

One becomes a hero, one wanders the land, and the last is taken prisoner

But the three are still bound by a solemn oath
To seek the answer, together once again

While there's no talk of a formal oath between the men, it should still be obvious who the poem is referring to. Genesis and Angeal both disappear after being deployed to fight in Wutai. Sephiroth mantains his allegiance to ShinRa, continuing to take part in the war efforts despite his friends abandonment. While one might assume that the hero is Sephiroth, Genesis is the wanderer, and Angeal is the prisoner while Zack has no place, I don't necessarily think it's that clean cut. In fact, I think it's purposely left open to interpretation. Is Sephiroth really the hero? Or is he wandering in search of answers? Since ShinRa has controlled every aspect of his life, is he the prisoner? The same questions can be asked of Genesis and Angeal- Are they heroes? Prisoners? What are they searching for. Zack himself is all encompassing of these things; his dream is to become a hero, he wanders the planet in search of Angeal, and is a prisoner of ShinRa, being left behind by Angeal, until he is able to realize that he is fighting for the wrong reasons.

You make some really great points Liz but you also filled my head with more questions. I vote no on the asylum!

There seem to be a lot of overlapping triangles throughout the compilation. The original 3, 1st class SOLDIER, the shared buster sword between Angeal Zack Cloud, AerithZackCloud, AerithCloudTifa ZackSephirothCloud

I'm particularly curious about the part that pertains to a love that leads to guilt for abandoning friends then a new love and a journey or some such my memory for poetry is not good unless it's set to music aka - it's a song. When I first read it I immediately thought of ZackAerithCloudTifa overlaps.

Just wondering what yours or anyone else's take is on that part?

So I looked at the second video there and it seems to me that while Act 1 seems to be general about the normal hopes and dreams of the people; Act 2 seems to speak of Sephiroth and Aerith? Act 3 is Genesis and Angeal Act 4 looks at Crisis Core's events and refers to Sephiroth and Zack? and Act 5 seems to refer to Cloud and what happens in FFVII

This is all at a glance though...no real analysis done ^^
